Blue Mountains Youth Choir began in 2007 and aims to give children and young people: access to high quality musical and choral training; the opportunity to collaborate with other musical groups including adult and children’s ensembles, both professional and amateur; and the thrill of live performance. Youth Choir repertoire is always challenging, diverse and includes standard choral literature.
In 2011 the Youth Choir will undertake three projects: the annual ‘Singing Weekend’ in April, with a range of activities plus singing in large and small groups; a performance at the Blackheath Choir Festival in August; and a concert entitled ‘Hamba Lulu’ with Academy Singers in November exploring African song.
